Webinar Introduction to Psychotic Disorders

Description

This 90-minute webinar aims to provide education and introduce several skills and techniques for working with individuals experiencing symptoms of psychosis. The first half of the webinar will utilize a presentation format with the overarching aim to improve provider confidence in working with this population. Specific objectives include:

  1. Define psychosis and trajectories of illness
  2. Provide information regarding stigma and risk of violent behavior
  3. Introduce several de-escalation strategies to promote safety for both provider and consumer
  4. Review best practices for working with individuals with psychosis, including simple and practice skills taken from best practices

The second half of the webinar will utilize a panel format for further discussion from various types of providers. Panelists include a psychologist, psychiatrist, and peer-support specialist.
